Richard Roat, head of the original Bowery Boys fan club, has come out with a new book on his heroes called HOLLYWOOD'S MADE-TO-ORDER PUNKS: THE COMPLETE HISTORY OF THE DEAD END KIDS, LITTLE TOUGH GUYS, EAST SIDE KIDS, AND BOWERY BOYS.
Richard Roat knew many of the stars of these films personally and has filled his history with many interesting anecdotes about the boys and their Hollywood career

Thelma Todd appeared with Bela Lugosi in one of his next films after DRACULA, 1931's Joe E. Brown comedy BROADMINDED. Ironically, in real life Bela Lugosi came from an area in Hungary near Transylvania, the home of the legendary Count Dracula. By another coincidence, Thelma Todd had played "vamps" in silent movies, and in the talkies was still sometimes refered to as a "vamp".
