 Now 8" Dedicated to Aaliyah 27-Dec-2001
The upcoming Now That's What I Call Music! 8 compilation is being dedicated to the late R&B singer Aaliyah, who died on August 25th in a plane crash in the Bahamas. The twenty-track compilation, due in stores November 20th, will contain "Rock da Boat," a track from her latest album, Aaliyah, and a portion of the proceeds from Now 8 will be donated to the Aaliyah Memorial Fund.
The remainder of the eighth volume of the successful series will contain recent hits by the likes of Destiny's Child, U2, Blink-182, 'N Sync and others. Now 8 is the third volume of the series to be released this year.

Aaliyah Dies in Plane Crash - A Plane accident late Saturday night claimed the life of Actress and Rhythm and Blues singer Aaliyah, 22, whose albums Aaliyah and One in a Million catapulted her to superstardom. All nine people on-board the twin engine Cessna 402 aircraft were killed when the plane burst into flames shortly after take-off from the island of Abaco in the Bahamas where Aaliyah was shooting a music video. After her star-making turn in "Romeo Must Die," Aaliyah's burgeoning film career continues to gather momentum. The singer/actress has just signed on to appear in a pair of sequels to the 1999 box office smash "The Matrix," the first of which is scheduled to start filming in Australia in March.
Aaliyah has been cast as a character named Zee in the upcoming "Matrix" films, according to her acting reps at Creative Artists Agency. She joins a cast that includes Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne and Carrie-Anne Moss — all of whom will reprise their roles from the first film.
