Aaron Charles Carter, known to fans as "AC" and those close to him as "Airboy" (though he much prefers Aaron) was born on December 7, 1987 at Tampa Bay General / Children's Hospital, roughly one minute after twin sister Angel. Aaron was born into a family of mega-talented entertainers, big brother Nick becoming a Backstreet Boy in 1993 after years in the business, older sister BJ interested in modelling / acting, older sister Leslie being a teenage model also learning to play the guitar, and twin Angel quite the actor, with a music video already under her belt (Aaron's video for "Shake It"). Having siblings with such experience and incredibly supportive parents was a big advantage for Aaron, who knew from the time he was only six that he wanted music to be his life.
Aaron's parents, Robert and Jane, enrolled him "in a rock school, an after-school program where you do music and they teach you different things." That program was a foundation for Aaron's music as we know it today.
Through the program, Aaron met three other boys his age who were interested in careers in music. They started a band called Dead End, and the talented quartet played inlibraries, coffee houses, and other local places. Their rock / alternative blend of music earned them gigs of up to 200 people, and there's really no saying how far Dead End COULD have gotten . . . but in 1996, about a year after forming, the group split up due to conflicts. "We broke up because we didn't get along," Aaron says. "So then I decided to become a pop singer."
Aaron spent a LOT of time with a vocal coach after the break-up, really focussing on his music. The hard work paid off when Aaron entered a local talent show later that year and won second place! Aaron was becoming known in the local music scene, but it wasn't until March of 1997 t | Page: 1
