 "Popular NEW Artist of the Year"
Aloha Joe has had the honor of giving away an award at the Hawaii Music Awards the past few years. In the past he had the award, Most Requested Artists of the Year. Those who visit Starpages often know that Danny Couch has been voted by the listening public for this award for 4 years in a row but Sometimes change is a good thing. This year Danny's name will not be found on the Aloha Joe ballot. Danny currently remains one of the Most Requested Artists played on Aloha Joe.
It didn't take long to decide that there should be a new award since so many NEW first time recording artists were getting requested. A few artists made it as Featured Artists of the Month on Aloha Joe.com in 2005. It's almost as if there is a new wave of artists who are entering the spot light and helping to broaden fans to the music of Aloha.
Who are these artists??? The new artists who will be up for this special award are first time recording artists who released albums in 2005 and their music is played (and requested) on Aloha Joe Radio. Aloha Joe has played more new artists than most of the local Hawaiian Radio stations in Hawaii. So if you want to be on top of the newest in Hawaiian Music, just listen to Aloha Joe. Speaking of the HMA, not listed on the HMA awards website is a special get together for Aloha Joe listeners. The party location is announced through invitation, it is more of a VIP party for Aloha Joe's listeners. One group promising to be there on Tuesday March 14th is Round & Round.
