with Magnolia Lane, the paved road
that leads from the entrance gate at
Washington Rd. to the freshly
painted white clubhouse. There are
61 magnolia trees that line both
sides of the lane, the seeds planted
some 140 years ago. It looks wider
on TV. In actual fact, two cars can
barely fit when passing each other.
The clubhouse itself was built in
1854, and is said to be the first
cement house constructed in "the
South." It's where members of
Augusta National mingle with the
PGA Tour stars. Oh, and the media,
