CHER IS BACK.... LIVING PROOF Listen to Cher's NEW single at Cherworld.com...."The Music's No Good Without You"
Warner looks set to lead promotion of the forthcoming Cher album "LIVING PROOF" from Europe as part of a marketing strategy echoing the one used to net sales of 11m units of "Believe". Cher will kick off promotional appearances in mid-October beginning with press interviews in the UK and a performance on Germany's most popular TV program, ZDF's "Wetten Dass...?", on October 13. And, with European promotions due to last through November and well into December, Warner UK international marketing director Hassan Choudhury believes Cher could be on course to replicate her previous success.
"Cher's appearance in a market always affects sales," he says. "She just has to set foot in a country and she sells records." Choudhury adds that the new "Living Proof" album, due for worldwide release on November 19, has a similar dance feel to "Believe". The first single, "The Music's No Good Without You", scheduled for release on November 5, was produced by Brian Rawlings and Mark Taylor, who were responsible for "Believe". But there are also tracks produced by Chicane, Rick Knowles and Scandinavian hitmakers Stargate, as well as one song written by Diane Warren. And, according to Choudhury, several "big players" from the dance world are gearing up to provide club mixes, while several top video directors are still in the running to provide a clip for the next single.
"The reaction to the single has been overwhelming," he says, adding that leading TV shows across Europe have been requesting the star as a guest. "We have so many proposals on the table that now we are just waiting for confirmation from Cher's management."
