Cindy Crawford's Cindyland Cynthia Ann Crawford was born in DeKalb Illinois on February 20,1966 to Daniel and Jennifer Crawford. She is the second of three girls and four children. Cindy's younger brother,Jeff, passed away at the age of four from leukimia. Cindy was only eight at the time and took her brother's lose very hard.
Cindy dedicated herself to school work and graduated Valedictorian of DeKalb High with a 4.0 average. She won a chemical engineering scholarship and went on to Northwestern Univerisity. But her schooling was to be short lived. One semester exactly. Her true calling in life still lay ahead of her.
She caught the eye of a local Chicago photographer who quickly spotted the future supermodel and signed her up. After several small jobs in the Chicago area Cindy was off to New York and bigger and better things.
She entered the highly touted "Elite Model of the Year" contest and actually lost. But not to be denied Cindy still signed with Elite. The rest as they say is history.
Cindy has been on almost every magazine cover imaginable. She is credited as being the original supermodel and her longevity and career seem to back up the claim. SHe was married to Richard Gere for several years and later divorced. She posed for Playboy at the age of 23 and then went on to host MTV's House of Style for 5 seasons. Numerous calanders and posters followed.
In 1995 she starred in Fair Game but was panned by the critics and has since not performed in film. She has numerous television appearences on a variety of shows from Regis and Kathy Lee to the Muppets Show.
Being a top model gained Cindy the coveted long term endorsement deals with various big companies like Pepsi and Revlon. Needless to say Cindy is one of the top paid models in the biz and has done very well for herself financially. Hers is a case of looks and brains.
