Sony Pictures has acquired international distribution rights to three DreamWorks films: Cameron Crowe's "Almost Famous, Barry Levinson's Irish comedy "An Everlasting Piece" and Ivan Reitman's ensemble sci-fi comedy "Evolution.
Sony also will distribute internationally "Piece" and "Evolution," but the
revenue for each will not be split 50-50 as DreamWorks will distribute
domestically and reap those profits and Sony will handle internationally in the
same way.
Financial terms of the deals were not disclosed.
"Evolution" - written by Don Jakoby ("Arachnophobia"), David Diamond and David Weissman ("The Family Man") and slated to star David Duchovny - is about the chaos that ensues when a meteor lined with one-celled organisms hits Earth, speeding the organisms' development. The Montecito Picture Co. production, the first to come under its three-year, first-look deal with DreamWorks, will be
produced by Reitman and Daniel Goldberg ("Road Trip") along with Jeff Apple ("In the Line of Fire"). Tom Pollock and Joe Medjuck ("Road Trip") are executive producing with David Rogers. The project is slated for a fall start.
