 Elizabeth Taylor swims with sharks 25-Sep-2006
Married eight times, undoubtedly Elizabeth Taylor has tangled with a few predators in her time. So perhaps it should come as no surprise to see the 74-year-old actress looking comfortable in a shark cage.
Seemingly oblivious to her ever-deteriorating health, the wheelchair-bound star donned a mask and snorkel, and plunged feet first into the Pacific Ocean for a shark-viewing excursion.
Later describing the experience as the "most exciting thing" she has ever done, Miss Taylor allowed herself to be barricaded into a 10ft by 6ft Plexiglas cage which was lowered below surface level.

Actress Elizabeth Taylor, who last week received her damehood from the Queen at Buckingham Palace, received a British Film Institute fellowship in front of a star-studded audience on Wednesday evening. The screen legend was attending a diamond gala dinner in her honour at London's Dorchester Hotel.
Dame Elizabeth used her acceptance speech to highlight the plight of people with Aids and HIV.

Screen legend Elizabeth Taylor was made a Dame of the British Empire by the Queen, at Buckingham Palace today.
The Oscar-winning actress was made Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the millennium New Year Honours List.
Dame Elizabeth described the honour as "the peak of her life".
Dame Elizabeth, 68, received her Dame Commander's brooch in honour of her services to acting and charity - recognising her fundraising for Aids research.

Dame Elizabeth Taylor is to receive the British Film Institute fellowship when she returns to the UK in May.
The 68-year-old, who received her title in the New Year's Honours List will return to the UK to be presented with her title by the Queen.
Now she will also pick up the 51st BFI fellowship at a gala tribute dinner at the Dorchester Hotel in London on 24 May.
Her stay in London will culminate with an all-star gala performance at the Royal Albert Hall on 26 May.

A new biography of Burton's former wife Elizabeth Taylor by controversial author Ellis Amburn claims Burton was a closet homosexual.
The unauthorised biography - The Most Beautiful Woman in the World - is due to be published next month.
In the book Amburn claims that the Welsh superstar had an affair with Sir Laurence Olivier and that he tried to seduce Taylor's husband Eddie Fisher.

US toy giant Mattel is paying tribute to the life and career of screen legend Dame Elizabeth Taylor with the launch of a new collectable doll.
The $75 doll, which has just gone on sale in the US, is the first in a series of Elizabeth Taylor celebrity dolls.
It depicts Dame Elizabeth as Cleopatra in her smash hit 1963 film - the first authorised portrait doll of the 68-year-old actress in this role.
