 Elle Fanning Biography
On the 9th of April 1998 in Conyers, Georgia, USA, Mary Elle Fanning was born to parents Steve and Joy Fanning. Her early years were spent in a stable home, having fun with her sister Dakota and just being a child. Elle would play the newborn baby in her sister’s role-plays, and sometimes help with the Plays that Dakota would put on to show their parents, these plays would sometimes take up to a week to rehearse. It was clear then that these two little girls were serious about acting.
Elle’s first step into stardom was when she was just 2 years and 11 months old. Her sister Dakota had already acquired an agent and had won a role in the acclaimed film ‘I am Sam’. The natural choice to play a younger version of Dakota’s character (Lucy Diamond Dawson) was, of course, little Elle. And that’s when her career in acting took off.
After ‘I am Sam’, Elle went on to play a younger Dakota again in Steven Spielberg’s ‘Taken’ Playing Allie Keys aged 3 years. But finally in 2003, Elle got her first role independently, In ‘Daddy Day Care’ Elle played Jamie, a bubbly pre-schooler attending Daddy Day Care. Elle’s Talent had been recognized and she was mentioned in various reviews.

From here Elle was unstoppable, she appeared in two television programmes, Judging Amy and CSI: Miami. And in 2004, she co-starred in ‘The Door in the Floor’ with Kim Basinger and Jeff Bridges. She played Ruth Cole, a little girl obsessed with her dead brothers. Ruth is the four year old daughter of Ted (Bridges) and Marion (Basinger) Cole. Critics were all over Elle saying she had “an even more charismatic presence than her older sister Dakota.”
Elle’s Career was getting Better by the minute, her forth film role was Sweetie Pie Thomas in the film “Because of Winn Dixie” She played one of the main characters friends.
In 2004 Elle had a quieter year - continuing her home schooling, appearing in an episode of 'CSI: New York', filming a small part in the film 'I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With', as well as modeling everything from Bitty Baby dolls to flower girl dresses.
Recently, Elle spent a month in Melbourne, Australia with her Mom and Grandmother, while Dakota shot her part in the upcoming children's film "Charlotte's Web". She was lucky enough to celebrate her seventh birthday there as well. She attended the premiere to 'Dreamer' in October '05 shortly after filming of her latest movie, 'Babel' wrapped, in which she acts with Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett.
