Stolen guitars, returned! 19-Aug-2006 Date: Fri, Aug 18 2006 12:28 am
Great email came from Mike Ka`awa today:
Good News! Both guitars have been returned. Noland’s guitar was found on
Saturday and last night "Ruby" came home.
The emails and telephone calls from everyone out there who expressed
their aloha was incredible. From Hawi, Hilo, Wailuku, to Waianae and
Lihue, and even Florida, people had their ears and eyes open.
The media was very supportive in getting the news out as well. Mahalo
Sharlene Oshiro and Carol Yotsuda. Caroline Slyter did an excellent job
with her news story Monday night on KITV,

Musician grieving after theft of guitars 10-Aug-2006 Musician grieving after theft of guitars
By Alyssa S. Navares
anavares@starbulletin.com
Local musician Mike Kaawa lost the love of his life when his 12-string guitar named Ruby was apparently stolen from his locked van Sunday in Kaneohe.
"It's something that I bonded with, and I wasn't going to retire it any time soon. It had a special sound," Kaawa said yesterday.
He said he bought the $3,000 Ovation guitar eight years ago; he usually keeps a guitar for five years.
It and a 12-string guitar owned by musician Brother Noland Conjugacion were stolen from the van in the lower park
