Tuesdays by Twilight The Portland Rose Festival invites you to the fifth season of Tuesdays by Twilight: Midsummer Music in the Portland Classical Chinese Garden! The Garden's most ambitious series yet, this year's line-up features a fascinating range of cultural and ethnic styles, from Brazilian to funk, jazz, classical Chinese all kicked off by renowned ukulele phenomenon Jake Shimabukuro. The series is extremely popular each concert is anticipated to sell out. The 2007 Line-up Features: July 10th - Ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro July 17th - Claudia Villela and Ricardo Peixoto July 24th - Thara Memory Quintet July 31st - Portland Classical Chinese Trio August 7th - Randy Porter (solo jazz piano) Concert Specifics Time: Doors open at 6:30 pm. Concerts start at 7:15 pm and end at 9:15 pm. Cost: Tickets $22member/$24general for 7/10 & 7/17 concerts. $15member/$17general for 7/24, 7/31, and 8/7 concerts. For a number of years the Portland Classical Chinese Garden has supported the Portland Rose Festival's Grand Floral Parade. The Portland Classical Chinese Garden began as a dream in the early 1980's. It became more focused when Portland and Suzhou, China, became sister cities in 1988 and the idea of a building a Suzhou-style garden in Portland became a goal. The garden opened September 14th, 2000. The Garden is located between NW 2nd and 3rd and NW Flanders and Glisan in Old Town/Chinatown. The Garden can be reached from I-405 by taking the Everett Street Exit and turning East.
