The 3rd Annual James Dean Fans Weekend will take
place in Fairmount and Marion during the weekend
of July 28th & 29th. Events will include a 1950's
Style Dinner and Dance with music by The Red Ball
Jets at The Fairmount Lions Club on Friday night,
from 5 to 9pm. Admission is $8.00 and includes
dinner.
On Saturday at Noon the popular James Dean Jeopardy
game will also take place at The Lions Club. A written
test will be given to anyone who wants to participate,
and the top 3 will go on to play the game. The winner
and runners up will recieve gift certificates to The

Want to get a peak at the hot young actor set to play James Dean? James Franco, who snagged the title role in the upcoming TNT film "James Dean: An Invented Life," can currently be seen in the 1999 film "Never Been Kissed,"
which you'll find in your local video store. And on Saturday, July 8, NBC
is scheduled to air several episodes of "Freaks and Geeks", the TV series
that got Franco his start. (Check your local TV Guide for details).

Finding Fairmount - The Hometown of James Byron De 29-Mar-2000 Did anybody see the Oscar's? Of course you did! And the opening sequence with Billy Crystal was very well done, especially using state of the art technology to "co-star" Crystal with famous Hollywood celebs!
James Dean made an appearance with Billy Crystal, in the famous "chickie" race scene from Rebel Without a Cause. If you missed it, try to find someone with a copy of the TV broadcast - it was great!

Finding Fairmount - The Hometown of James Byron De 6-Mar-2000 James Byron Dean was born in Marion, Indiana, ten miles north of Fairmount on February 8th, 1931. He was the only child of Winton & Mildred Dean.
When his mother died at an early age, nine year old Jimmy came to Fairmount where he was raised by his Uncle Marcus and Aunt Ortense Winslow.
Jimmy attended Fairmount schools, and was an average student. He participated in most sports, and excelled in basketball and track.
He was also a member of the debate club, and was active in all of the school plays.
Upon graduating from Fairmount High School in 1949, Jimmy went to California where his fat
