"My laptop was completely ruined when my office flooded. Even the hard disk was wrecked; but I didn't lose a single document."

 Joey fatone News - 3-October-2002
Joey Fatone'N Syncers Keeping Busy
They may not be holed up in the recording studio producing their next album, but it looks like the fellas from 'N Sync have all waved bye, bye, bye" to any hope of rest and relaxation for the time being.

Wannabe space cadet Lance Bass, who was recently booted from a Russian space mission for not paying his $20 million bill, has resumed training at the country's Star City cosmonaut center this week in hopes of blasting off on a future mission.

"He will not go in October for sure, but he just doesn't want to interrupt the [training] program," Yuri Nikiforov, general director of Atlas Airspace, tells the Associated Press.

In the meantime, he'll keep himself spacing out working on a computer-animated and live-action star-travel musical. His production company, A Happy Place, has purchased the movie rights to Nose Pickers from Outer Space, the popular kiddie book about alien invaders who carry computers in their noses.

"Hopefully, if we succeed at getting him to space and back safely, he'll be in the film as one of the nose pickers," Wendy Thorlakson, a partner at A Happy Place, happily tells Daily Variety.

Meanwhile, hunky bandmate Justin Timberlake, whose first solo album, Justified is due in November, is donating his time and his pipes to Recording Artists, Actors, and Athletes Against Drunk Driving (RADD).

In response to the recent death of Anna White-- a fan who was killed by an inebriated trucker as she waited meet Timberlake outside the KIIS-FM radio station in Los Angeles earlier this month--the popster has decided to act as the spokesman for a new anti-drunk driving campaign. He plans to write and produce a public service radio and television spot for RADD this year in her honor.

"The senseless death of Anna White yet again demonstrates the horrors of drunk driving. I can only hope that partnering with RADD will raise awareness and convince others never to drive after they've had even a few drinks," Timberlake says in a statement.

On a decidedly less serious note, the other the members of the fivesome are also keeping busy.

Joey Fatone has confirmed to E! that he has signed on for the TV version of the sleeper hit of the summer My Big Fat Greek Wedding. He's also burning up the Broadway stage in the Tony-winning musical Rent. According to box-office reports, ticket sales have doubled since he joined the cast last month. (He's scheduled to star in the production through December 22.)

Chris Kirkpatrick is keeping his hands full as the target of Eminem's recent single "Without Me," in which the cuss-happy rapper sings: "Chris Kirkpatrick, you can get your ass kicked."

But there is no need to sic his minions of screaming teenage girls upon Em. Apparently Kirkpatrick's quite excited about the whole thing.

"I was the first to be excited. To be in an Eminem song--he's a genius," Kirkpatrick dishes in the next issue of Us Weekly. "I heard he used my name since it rhymed with ass kicked."

And, well, there's JC Chasez. No big news for him except for being "hard at work writing and producing for a new project," according to the band's Website.

Up next for the 'N Syncers as a group is a turn on the new Disneymania CD where they've joined forces with the likes of Ashanti, Usher and Christina Aguilera to remake several popular Disney tunes. The boys are doing an a cappella version of "When You Wish Upon a Star."
