Star Seeker: Linda Wang NEW YORK, NY. May 1st -- Asian American actress Linda Wang attended the East coast division of the SAG and AFTRA actors union Commercials contract strike rally. This event took place today at 12 Noon in Bryant Park, New York City. Hundreds of New York actors -- members of Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) holding up signs that says "It Pays To Advertise, But Advertisers Won't Pay!"
"I am here simply to show support for SAG and AFTRA's solidarity against the advertisers in the commercials contract negotiations. This is a very important event for all of the actors nationwide!" Wang says, "I still clearly remembered the last Commercial strike back in 1988 and that was a huge victory that benefited all of the actors that works in the commercial industry. We are all here to show the Advertisers and Agencies that we mean business!"
On the West coast, Screen Actors Guild President Bill Daniels addresses 2500 union members at a strike rally this morning in Los Angeles. The rally concluded with a march and picketing at several prominent advertising agencies. Concurrent rallies are being held in New York, Chicago, and San Francisco.
Striking union members seek a "pay-per-play" formula for cable residuals, commercial monitoring, equitable internet advertising contracts, and to maintain the current "pay-per-play" formula for broadcast network (Class A) payments. -- Starpages Current Feature News.
