This is Michael Alig!
He was born in South Bend, Indiana, USA.
He knew Warhol and Miles Davis.
He knows Madonna, Bowie, Bret Easton Ellis,
Ru Paul, Keoki - Superstar DJ,
to name but a few…
Throughout the 90s he was New York City's
top nightclub promoter.
He created the youth culture phenomenon
The Club Kids
(similar to The New Romantics in the UK).
He had it all!
And then on the 17 March 1996
he went and killed
Angel Melendez!
He's currently spending 10-20 years in a US Correctional Facility!
On 30 June 2000 he was visited by David M Lambert of
the satori group. Lambert had with him two video cameras,
a minidisc recorder and a recording studio!
Alig was recorded reading Lambert's poetry and prose, as well as amongst other things, the first paragraph of Charles Dickens' The Tale of Two Cities, all for inclusion on a concept dance CD.
The CD juxtaposes poetry, prose, original samples from the World of Wonder documentary
Party Monster and contemporary popular music - trance, drum n bass, trip hop, that kinda stuff -
they had a blast!
