 Ron Perlman Biography
Born 13th April, 1950 in Washington Heights, New York, Ronald Francis Perlman attended George Washington High School. Graduating with an M.A. in Theatre from the University of Minnesota, Ron became a professional actor in 1973.
Working both in regional theatres and on Broadway, Ron made a name for himself as an innovative and talented actor, working with directors like Peter Brook and starring in plays such as the highly-acclaimed production of Fernando Arrabal's 'The Architect and the Emperor of Assyria'. His first film performance came in 1981 in Jean-Jacques Annaud's award-winning 'Quest for Fire', for which he was nominated for a Genie Award, and then he won great acclaim for his performance as the hunchback monk Salvatore in Annaud's 'The Name of the Rose'.
But the role that was to make his name came in 1987 when he portrayed Vincent, the half-man half-beast in television's 'Beauty and the Beast', a role that garnered him two Emmy nominations and a Golden Globe.
Since then he has created a remarkable body of work both on television and in film, with occasional forays back into theatre for good measure. His most recent role as the bloodthirsty and vicious Reinhardt in 'Blade II' ensured his choice as star for Guillermo del Toro's much-awaited 'Hellboy'.
He has been married since 1981 to fashion designer Opal Stone, and they have two children, Blake Amanda and Brandon Avery. They live in Los Angeles, but still maintain a home in New York. | Page: 1
