Ronan Keating - The Biography Ronan, Patrick, John, Keating was born in Dublin on March 3rd 1977 - a Pisces. The youngest of five siblings to proud parents, Marie and Gerry. Music was his passion from a young age, and he formed a school band as a teenager called Nameste, performing in talent competitions, where he soon realised his love for singing and performing.
After various jobs he joined the auditions for the Irish equivalent of Take That. It was a success and Boyzone were born, with Ronan eventually on lead vocals. Joining a line up of, Shane Lynch, Mikey Graham, Stephen Gately, and Keith Duffy. They worked hard doing small gigs around Ireland, and the hard work paid off when they hit UK shores with their first number one single and album. From that moment on, they became a phenomenon and doubled the success of Take That.
But Ronan’s personal life was touched by tragedy when he lost his beloved mother to breast cancer at the young age of 52. Ronan was devastated, but one of Ireland’s biggest supermodels, Yvonne Connelly was by his side. They eventually married at a private ceremony in Nevis and Boyzone were still going strong. After an explosive six years on the road, the boys decided to take a break. Ronan pursued solo projects with a massive number one single ‘When you say nothing at all’ followed by his first number one solo album ‘Ronan’ from then on, Ronan didn’t look back. Three number one singles, another number one album ‘Destination’ and stacks of awards including an Ivor Novello for his song writing credits - with his current album ‘Turn it on’ being co written by him. Ronan is now a family man to Jack and Marie and helps raise funds for the Marie Keating Foundation set up in his mother’s memory.
