Travis Haddix was born November 26, 1938 in Walnut Mississippi, about thirty miles south of Memphis Tennessee. His interest in music begin at an early age, and after seeing B. B. King perform at the WDIA Radio station in Memphis, young Haddix knew that the guitar was the musical instrument that he wanted to play.
The Haddix Family moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin where Travis continued to refine his craft learning from his Father Chalmus, and his older Brother Alvie. In 1959, Travis moved to Cleveland, Ohio where he joined the D.L. Rocco band and later toured with Little Johnnie Taylor. In addition to writing his own material , Travis also writes for, Artie "Blues Boy"White, Dicky Williams, Michael Burks, veteran blues man Jimmy Dawkins and many others.
Travis has received rave reviews from Living Blues Magizine, Real Blues, Blues Revue, Blues and Rhythm, and Big City Blues Magazines. Since 1992 Travis has toured Europe at least twice each year. Travis received four awards in 1999 (Best male blues artist, best new blues artist, Blues entertainer and Contemporary blues artist of the year).and two each in 2003 and 2004. In 1989 he founded Haddix publishing Company and Wann-Sonn Records, and has recorded five CD's under his own label.
Travis's positive attitude is summarized by the remarks he uses to close each performance..."I am the best that I can be, and since no one else can be me, there's none better!".
