An American Hero named Nick Nick has touched a lot of people in the last few weeks. The family wishes to thank everyone again for the many prayers, love and support during Nick’s recuperation.
Nicholas Riccio who turned 19 on the 4th of July joined the Marines to follow a family tradition. On Friday, June 18, 2004, while serving our Country, Nick Riccio was seriously injured while conducting combat operations in Iraq. A piece of shrapnel from a roadside bomb passed completely through his head leaving this young son in a coma for 3 days. Nick is now talking, walking and on Monday July 12th Nick will be awarded the Purple Heart, from the commandant of the Marine Corps for his injuries sustained that day.
The last 3 weeks have seemed like an eternity for Nick, his parents, family and friends. Tuesday he will fly aboard a C17 to the James A. Haley VA Medical Hospital
Traumatic Brain Injury Rehabilitation Center in Tampa, Florida.
